There is some remnants of a sunflower field in the pasture at dadfsr's house. The field was planted last year for my cousin's wedding and what's come up this year is all volunteer. A decent stand, but nowhere like last year. Last year none of it could be mowed until after the original wedding date (Sept. 1), but this year it's wide open....
So, if there's 5-8 acres of sunflowers, what would you all suggest for a mowing schedule?

I would wait until a week before the season starts and cut wide swaths through it leaving a few 10' wide rows standing.

I tried sunflowers for doves but never had much luck. I have 2 acres of winter wheat that the farmer left for me in my field. I will cut some of it7-10 days before season starts. Then cut more as needed
