Text for the Day -- Psalm 131 ---------- O LORD, my heart is not lifted up, my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvellous for me. But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; my soul is like the weaned child that is with me.
O Israel, hope in the LORD from this time on and for evermore.
Devotional ---------- When you find yourself in deep water and you don't understand what is going on, trust in God. Quiet yourself like a child at its mother's breast. You never outgrow the need to be nurtured by the milk that flows from God's breast - the Living Word that fosters trust so that you can live with hope. When you stray from your home base with God, you find yourself in a "prodigal" position - not sure of who you are, where you are or where you are going. The Biblical story of God's love for us supplies deep and lasting hope for a lifetime.
Prayer ---------- Be near me, gracious Lord, when I am tempted to go it alone. Amen
