Text for the Day -- Romans 7:21-25 ---------- So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is good, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God in my inmost self, but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, with my mind I am a slave to the law of God, but with my flesh I am a slave to the law of sin.
Devotional ---------- Life is like a battlefield within. The struggle between good and evil, sin and grace and guilt and forgiveness continues to create a dilemma for us. Our force of will and good intentions are not strong enough to overcome the power of sin to pollute and the power of the Law to create guilt and fear. God has given his grace and mercy to us in Jesus Christ. In that gift I can consider myself dead to sin and the Law and alive to God and forgiveness.
Prayer --------------- Alone and without you, O Lord, I am lost. Continue to make known your love and grace to me that I may live. Amen
