cambygsp, I am not hunting there but know something about the area. I bought some timber within a mile of the property. There are a TON of deer in the area. The men I worked on were big deer hunters too and said it doesn't get much bowhunting pressure as new as it is,but, gun season received a lot of pressure. They counted as many as 100 deer funneling toward their property (following the river) on opening weekend. Should be some quality bucks there too. Hope this helps you.

Yes,
We bowhunted it Saturday with the main purpose being to do some muzzleloading scouting.
WOW!.....Is all I have to say.
It actually turned out to be a really good hunt. We hunted all day Saturday and are getting ready to go back this morning (it's 2:30AM now).
No bucks but TONS of deer and OMG.....the turkeys.....

Is Fairbanks Landing open to bow hunting now? According to the IDNR website it opens Nov 13 and 14 unless that info is for last year. Whats the closest camping to Fairbanks? Thanks, h.h.

Nice bucks! Is there camping close by? Im looking for a place to take my buddy from Florida in a couple of weeks. Some place hed have a good chance for a big deer. hes never killed a good buck and his age and health will probably only allow him a couple more years to hunt. Fairbanks Landing looks like it might be the place. h.h.

Depends how close you want to be. Shakamak State Park is 30-35 minutes from there. I know of several campgrounds towards Sullivan but thats even further. There has to be some small private campgrounds around there somewhere. If I can get a hold of a friend of mine who lives down there i'll ask. Other thing you can do is call the post office in that area and ask them. (Thats how my stepdad has found small campgrounds in the past.)I don't remember if Fairbanks is Vigo or Sullivan County.

Yes it's open to bowhunting!!!!
It's in Sullivan County, just South of the Vigo County line.
I seen several signs on the way for several small mom & pop type campgrounds.....Don't remember the names though. It's only about 12 miles south of Terre Haute.....tons of hotel rooms at Exit 7
I am a "Hardwoods Hills" deer hunter, so Fairbanks is ALOT different. It's mainly FLAT bottom land with LOTS & LOTS of Ag. fields.
I wouldnt get my hopes up on a buck though, we seen about 35-40 deer total....not one buck! All the corn is still standing.
It's a deer hunters dream though......8000 acre and Saturday only 42 bowhunters signed in, Sunday when we left at noon, only 24 had signed in.
