I like snakes too. It sure is fun to scare a non snake loving hunting or fishing partner!

My wife is deathly afraid of snakes. I don't particularly care for them but I'm not afraid of them. I try to exterminate any I find around the house- mostly to make life easier for me.

I don't mind having the non-poisonous kind around; good rodent control.

I really like em! I had a pet Garder Snake growing up, we'd feed it night crawlers. In college I owned a small Ball Python for a while. I have a hard time understanding why people don't like snakes, it's not like they attack people. My wife gets an elevated heart rate even driving past one on the road...She is getting better though.
I'd love to see a rattle snake or copper head but would definately give it plenty of room!

I'd love to see a rattle snake or copper head but would definately give it plenty of room! The problem with seeing them, is that sometimes (especially with copperheads) you see them just as your foot is about to come down on top of them! If you still hunt during turkey season or in bow season, give a glance to the ground before you make your next move. If they're warming themselves on a trail, they may be too cold to move quickly away, or not feel the vibrations from your foot falls in your stealth mode. This has happened to me and I just barely avoided getting tagged.

for those that dont like em, you can get a product called "Dr T's Snake Away". It is a granular repellant you can put around your house or whatever and it drives em away. You can get it at Home Depot, Orschelns(sp) and such. Its safe, sulfur based product that messes with their sensory organ(cant remember the tech name for it).

I love snakes too. I got nailed by a hog nose snake once that made be very ill. He must have eaten something and had some bad bacteria in it's mouth. I don't think I ever puked so badly. The worst one though was when I jumped on top of a cotton mouth in Florida. The anti-venom alone was $1500. That really freaked my mom out when I came walking up on her beach where her and my aunt were tanning. I had two holes in my leg and blood coming down from them, I didn't have to say a word, she just immediately told me to get my arse in the car and we were off toward the hospital. When we arrived they had nurses and doctors outside waiting on me. I had my own special room with "snakebite" on a sign above my door. I was 15 at the time and had been warned by my father about the cotton mouths and gators in Florida where I spent every summer with my mom who lives down there. I didn't tell him about getting bit until many years later because I was afraid he would not let me go back and visit my mom. He didn't believe me at first until my sisters told him I was telling the truth and then he was pretty upset with me and my mother for keep it a secret from him.

I don't mind the non-poisonous ones, but I came across a bit timber rattler in Brown County Snake Park once. Luckily we were in the car, but when I stopped to check it out it struck at the tire on the car. I just got out of there, because I did not want to stress it out too much.
