This year I planted 16 rows of corn, 80 yards long for a deer food plot but mainly its for cover. As most of you know deer love to hide in the corn when pressured. In my area there is indeed a lot of pressure during late archery and gun season. I'm also going to plant a swath of turnips and rape with some clover mixed in, 10 foot wide and 80 yards long next to the corn. Then late Sept I'm planting winter wheat and oats mixed 10 foot wide and 100 yds long connecting to the top of the turnips. This setup should make for increased deer activity.
Thursday I checked my corn and its FULL of foxtail! I called around looking to buy some corn herbicide but only found bulk. Today I went to the local Co-op and got a 2 1/2 gallon jug of Lumax. It was expensive at 62.00 a gallon but thats the smallest quantity I could buy. I only need 2 quart or so for my corn. Ive got enough to last for 3-4 years now!
Tomorrow I plan on spraying my corn to get rid of the foxtail and maybe plant a nice big patch of sweet corn. If anyone is close and needs a small amount of corn herbicide I'll sell you some. h.h.

I checked the corn today and the Lumax is killing the weeds and fox tail. I also mowed a small clover patch off pretty short to get rid of the weeds. I plan on spraying some Round-up in a couple of weeks to kill off the weeds in my fall plot. I'll give it a couple more weeks after I spray and then disc up the plot, wait two more weeks and then Round Up again, then wait two more weeks and plant and that should be around mid August. h.h.
