If changes were on the horizon, what would you like to see?

If the true goal of the DNR is to reduce doe numbers why not open up a doe-only limited muzzleloader season in October. This would reduce the doe population earlier in the season & make the bucks travel much more in search of receptive does during shooting hours @ the peak of the rut. I would keep gun season where it is & include rifles with the shotguns in the less populated areas.

I do believe that if we don't get a handle on this deer population real quick the DNR will look at all aspects of control. I don't believe anything will be left off of the consideration table. Kyle (the IDNR Director) is man that looks at all aspects of a problem and all of the possible solutions to it. He is very analytical in his decision making process.

Leave the x bows out of archery season, they're not bows.
An early ML season would be Ok.
Biggest things are getting the rut out of gun season and shortening the gun season.

Muzzle one week in Oct.. doe only, to reduce number of does shot after being bred. Why have a buck chase after does like crazy only to have the one he just bred shot.... Crossbows- not a fan... unless for medical reason. Scott

Not a very good poll as NEITHER isn't an option. I think crossbow needs its own season and early muzzleloader should be in September.

If we are to have an early muzzle loader season I would hope it would be before archery season. Many opposed to Xbows are concerned about sharing their season with others. I would not like to be sitting out there in MY peacefull zone and have MLs blasting away. There is a reason some of us bowhunt and the peace and serenity is the main thing. Sept would seem to work.

We need an early 2-day M/L season like Kentucky has, in mid October. Crossbow Season should be in January after regular seasons.

If my .02 cents was worth more than my time of typing on this key board I would do away with the OBR and just move gun season out of the rut. This would allow larger bucks and still allow a decrease in total population. Indiana's gun season is simply too long, with only a week break and then a two week muzzleloader season there is way too much pressure during the wrong times of the year.

Neither!!!!
And there are no changes on the horizon, it will take at least three(3) years to trend an effect that the current changes in antlerless harvest will have. Just like the OBR.
I guess this is more "hypothetical", but the intent is to beat the dead horse again, but in a way to do CPR and get it breathing again.
Again I'll just set back watch and smile........ goin no where fast.........

Notice how the thread was started.... ***IF CHANGES WERE ON THE HORIZON*** I noticed at thread that said "Additional weapon choices" and was thinking Rifle considering that they would be a new (as in added) weapon. And if "changes were on the horizon" and we were talking *Adding Additional Weapons*we would be talking something we dont already have. Crossbow season is in the second archery portion of the seasons base and ML is in the ML season and is usable in the Firearms season. A "Neither" possition would have been needed as I see it because I cant read minds as well as I used to. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
