Dad caught this snake behind my house. We are both snake lovers and know a little about snakes but neither of us could positively identify this one. We both had ideas on what we though it was but was hoping someone here might know for sure. I think it might be a Butler's Garter snake but not certain.

That bottom pic is Butlers and I think they look a lot alike.

Yep. Garter snake.
My younger brother agrees with Jack and HH. Says there's just one kind, Rattleheaded Copper Moccasins!
BTW, read somewhere that the garter snake actually has some very potent venom, but isn't considered dangerous because it desn't have the delivery system to inject us. Don't let one chew on your finger for an extended period!
