My "mission project" this year is to stay home and do a lot of work in my church's under construction family life center. I've been doing all kinds of different work, but mostly carpentry type.
Anywho - one of the contract workers there had showed up in a SUV that had all kinds of bowhunting and bowfishing stickers all over it. I saw it when I pulled into the lot.
I finally figured out who it was and went over to talk to him. He is a pro shooter for PSE and runs an archery pro shop in Evansville. The name of the shop is - The Bow Shop and is at 1625 N. Garvin.
They have a 45 Yard Indoor 3-D Range and a 20 Yard Spot Range. Full line pro shop featuring PSE, Hoyt, Oneida, and Browning bows.
This guy is into bowfishing big time. I gave him a Hunting-Indiana.com business card and we went to his truck to get his card. He then showed me some out of site bowfishing pictures.
MY gosh! What whoppers these guys get out of the Ohio. Some right there at Dress Plaza in Evansville.
He showed me some pictures of Asian Carp that he says is taking over ALL of the river systems. They are very prolific and can lay one million eggs at a time and spawn twice a year.
I’ve asked him to join up and share… maybe he will soon.

While doing our yearly electrofishing surverys we see quite a few of the silver carp. Populations are higher the closer you get to the Ohio River but I have seen them as far upstream as Martinsville on the WF White River, to at least Williams on the East Fork, and Winslow on the Patoka. It has been four years since I have been on the upper Wabash so I'm not sure how far the silver carp have spread in that basin but we caught a black carp back then at Lafeyette and the Wabash was one of the first rivers in the state to have silvers.

HEY WOODY/MBOGO > very prolific fish and can be difficult to stick are these asian carp.this one was a tank and would have been a state record but we didn't want to mess with all the b.s. that is associated with records keeping. the state should make it a lil more "user friendly" to register fish. I helped set up the first bowfishing challenge for campbell outdoors.both karen and john spoke with me at the 2006 ata show in atlanta,ga. for my assistance/knowledge. you can check it out in the video, everyone wanted me to compete but i channeled my efforts to help get the event on it's feet. the cat yur talkin' about from evansville was in that first challenge at ken. lake. i did the interview with him and his team, difficult fella to interview, very opinionated and everyone i know that has dealt with him once will not go back a second time. not trying to speak badly, everyone can draw their own conclusion, but there's a reason this fellas' shop isn't growing in an area that desperatly needs a quality no b.s. archery shop with people that know archery/bowfishing/bowhunting!!!FYI.....
