I only use domestic Missouri woods for my calls. My preference for all calls is red cedar followed closely by walnut. I also like osage orange and cherry.

White Oak sounds good, walnut turns good, purple heart sounds good but takes time and patience. I have also done ambrosia maple it turns like the walnut but sounds lower.

I love eastern red cedar for my call, and hedgewood sounds pretty good also. I have several guys wanting my call out of eastern red cedar, looks good and sounds really good.
