The quality of the mount looks great.... It wouldn't be a pose that I would like, but to each his own. If you wanted that pose, I think it looks great!

That was a picture taken from another site. Hunter, taxidermist is unknown.
Please do critique it for us.
Personally I've never seen a doe lick a buck, but I think you are going to comment on the taxidermy work itself, right?

won't go into the quality-lots of issues ther but will comment on your statement about a doe licking a buck. When deer lick it is usually to show submission not affection. no matter how much we (or the animal-rights fanatics) want to believe-deer do not have an emotional side. Affection is not a trait they are blessed with. Quite often a lesser buck will lick a dominant buck or a buck may lick a doe of he smells a scent he wants to get a better idea about. Licking allows the deer to remoisten the hair and makes the scent stronger. I have seen a pedestal mount by Bill Yox from NY with two velvet bucks(both very large, late summer deer)That was similar to this mount that was awesome. a slight head roll on the more dominant buck with his eye slightly closed on the lick side and the lesser buck in a submissive pose slightly below and behind licking his cheek below the closed eye. Even this mount would have benefitted from a slight head roll to expose the deers cheek a little more to the doe. sort of like some dogs do when you scratch their cheek and they really like it and roll their head to allow you easier access. eye openings closed slightly which to us suggests pleasure but in reality is a little more relaxed look would have helped also.

I don't care for it. Reminds me of all the ceramic statues in peoples yards with the spotted fawn, doe and hard antlered buck ! Deer aren't family unit. And I have never seen a Doe "kiss" a buck!

I think it a very corny pose. I don't like most of the mounts that have a posed look to them.
I especially hate the mounts where the deer is turned around and trying to pull an arrow out of itself. Those are tacky in my opinion. No offense to anyone who has one like that, I just don't want to remember that moment of a deer's life...to me that is not honoring the deer.
