Anyone know the license cost for bowhunting in Illinois. Is there a special license for 5 days?? Seems high what I checked on. Is it going up again for 2007?? Can you hunt Illinois or is it on a quota system?
Thanks for your help.

I believe this is the third and final year of the phased-in price hike for their archery deer license. I believe the total license cost is going to be just under 500.00. One buck archery limit for non-res. I believe the 5-day hunting license you mentioned is what a NR is required to purchase in order to apply for a deer tag. Last year there was a fixed allotment of 20,000 non-res archery licenses, with 7500 alloted for outfitters. dnr.state.il.us/admin/systems/06/06deerseasondates.htm.

The tag cost you $350 or so, and then you need a hunting license and a conservation stamp.
You can get a 5 day hunting license if you want. archery tags are statewide at large, gun tags are allotted per county.
Last year, everubody that wanted a archery tag got one.

my tag cost me 365 plus the 12.20 issuing fee. that is good for a buck and a doe or two does you have to get a habitat stamp also that is 5.50. and i would get the annual non res license unless you are only going to be there 5 days and not go back becsause it is 50.75. im heading back over there sunday to finish out the rest of there season with the outfitter i was with in november, but next im not going with an outfitter and just hunting with a freind of ours that own two thousand acres and doesnt want to lease it to outfitters and he said i could comeover whenever. and the good thing is it is still in west central ill. right next to were the outfitter i hunt with

Just one more bit of commentary....I consider their NR license cost pretty outrageous, and especially starting this year, at nearly 500.00 total. If I'm not mistaken, this will make IL the most expensive general season NR whitetail tag in the whole country. Even still, I plan to hunt over there this fall if I can find some decent property. But this is one of the reasons I think we should adopt reciprocal license fees in Indiana.

My buddy who lives over there (not to mention he can't take me hunting where he goes ![>:(](https://www.indianagunowners.com/images/smilies/woot.gif) ) says all you see in Pike and Greene counties is out of state trucks and hunters from Nov 1st - Dec 1st. I'd like to hunt over there if I could find a place!

I don't go to Green county so I have no idea if it's true or not although I'm inclined to think it is. Good luck finding a place. If it wasn't for my hunting my father in law's ground I'd be out in the cold also. It's not hunting as you guys get to do but it's better than nothing. We've got another firearm season coming up and I won't find out where I'm hunting till the day before the season opens. I envy you guys that get to scout your hunting ground. I go in blind every year. This year I was lucky to even get to go in and find a tree for my climber before the season started.

I only paid $525 for my lifetime license. ;D
I can't fathom paying almost $500 for one license plus the outfitting cost.

I just got back from there a couple weeks ago. The non res deer tag was $377, then I had to buy a hunting license and habitat stamp for another $34.
Guess what ..... It's worth it. Saw two slammer bucks in four days of hunting. No kill made, but it might take me 3 years to see two bucks that good around here. We just don't have the quantity of top end bucks around here like I've always seen in IL. I'll be back there next fall.

But this is one of the reasons I think we should adopt reciprocal license fees in Indiana. LOL...I know of several guys from Indiana that hunt both Kentucky and Illinois. I've never heard of anyone from one from those 2 states hunting Indiana. My buddy and I have hunted southern Illinois for 3 years now. Here are the results: The only tag I didn't fill was last years bow tag. I missed 160" eight pointer that was killed by a gun hunter. My buddy has killed 152" ten pointer, 186" twelve pointer, 130" nine pointer, & 124" 7 seven pointer. We've never leased ground there...the last 2 years we've just gotten permission to hunt on farmers property. The 1st year we worked for an outfitter. (I'll never do that again) Needless to say.....I'll buy tags every year!

I went to hunt with a friend who lives in Indiana. I would have gone this year also if I hadn't just bought a computer back in October. It would be better for me if Indiana had an either sex tag instead of a buck tag. It's not cheap to by 2 tags for a 2 1/2 day hunt.

and a few of my buddies give me and a couple others heck for spending that much money to go out of state and hunt. they know there are big bucks over there but i think that they think it is just like here, but i think there are ton more of them over there. i see more big bucks over there in one week than i will a whole entire season here. that is why i am going back for a second time on sunday
i will be going back ever year from now on for bow and gun, now that i have a ton of private ground to hunt over there.

I live 5 minutes from Ill. I hunted on private property of 12 years. I also have a comp. Ind. Lifetime license. I hardly hunted Ind. for 12 years. When the license went up to over 400.00 I decided that I wanted to be kissed before I got bent over and ........ so I quit hunting Ill. Sure I miss it. The money was no object. For me it was the principle of the thing. I thought the price was outrageous.

$454.00 is what I believe it costs this year. I haven't hunter over there since the big price hike a few years ago.

After the first 2 post cards I received in the mail from them, I gave up also.... I remember when it was $126 for combo and stamp,, over the counter. Same thing,, see more NICE bucks in 1 weekend than all year here. I have relatives in Northen Illinios in Lee county. My uncle is a grain dealer and was able to get me access to lots of farms. It was like heaven. But after the price's went out of control, I lost interest.
