I am a 30yr old, returning college student who just got accepted into pharmacy school. I am moving in August and I will be at Purdue for the next 4yrs finishing my degree. I am looking for a place to bow hunt a few times when I cant make it home. I am willing to doe hunt only or do some work. I also make homebrew trailcams if a hunter is interested in a trade. I hunt frequently back home, and will hunt there as much as possible, but when my coursework wont permit I would like a refresher nearby. I am well educated, mature, responsible hunter who can provide references and work history. Also, are there any ranges near where I can shoot largebore sixguns? Any links would be greatly appreciated!

Lyman-got your email and replied before I looked at your post here. What are you doing the third weekend in Sept?? The Venturing Crew I mentioned is having a "Projectile Day/weekend" at my place. Last year we did spears, arrows, tomahawks, pistol, revolver, shotgun, black powder and some high power.-now you know why it's called what it is The kids have a blast and I make sure that we have at least NRA/BSA Instructor on site. One added bonus this year will be sunflowers!! I'll explain later ;D

Basecamp leasing currently has a couple Carroll county properties up for lease. That would be pretty close.

Not sure who you would talk to at Purdue, but a friend of mine bow hunted Mar-tell Forest last year(west of the university off of south river road past grand ville bridge) Also the Purdue apple orchids were allowing hunting at one time. Get a plat map at the Purdue Co-opertive extension office and knock on some doors. Tim Galema( Galema Green house) out north west of west lafayette ,kinda by the new west side Menards...He has let a few college students hunt his property.
Good Luck

I belive Martell was possibly by application and was only for a weekend or two. One of the guys that Dad works with hunted Purdue ground last year during those hunts. Not sure if the orchards are allowing hunting any longer- not sure when they ever were. Definately don't think they were ever open for gun hunting...
How do you know Tim?

Dan-don't you remember me bowhunting the orchard?? You were only 7 or 8 at the time ;D. Part of the problem with the orchards is that they are now under control of the Forestry Dept but that is also the good news because the Forestry Dept pretty much decides where and how the hunts are conducted. I haven't bowhunted for years but can tell you that there are some nice bucks wondering around those areas. I do know that the Martell hunt was for both doe and buck last year with the emphasis on does. Contact Dr George Parker in the Forestry Dept(765-494-3602), if he is not in charge of the hunting he will know who to get you in contact with. Good Luck!!
