ok I know this is not swapping hunts exactly.... I am in need of somewhere to hunt that is in Vigo county or close to Terre Haute.... My family had some land in Clay county near the Parke county line but for me that is about 45 minutes away and I don't always hvae time to drive that far..... I would be willing to arrange permision for you on my families land (about 95 acers) that only myself and 1 other person hunts on in return for occasional use of land closer to me.... (by occasional I mean a few mornings during the weekdays when I get off work I work a night shift and would like somewhere to go after work.) Send me a PM if you think you have something that will work and we can see what we can work out.

Sleezy go talk to Richard Moore on Payne in Southern Vigo. This will kind of back track you but it is the simplest direction to get there for the first time. Take 63 south to Prairie Creek Park road, 41 will work too. Off of 63 turn East, off of 41 turn West, go to Payne, 2 or 3 crossroads from 63, never went to 41 from there sorry. When you get to Payne go North, Farm has a Large pole barn. Richards mother lives nearby, north. This is where I hunted for last three years and am going to find some place else.

Oh just remembered, must be getting old. There is a group called Outdoor Obsession (I think) that meets at Gander Mountian here. You might try contacting them also. Good Luck.

Hey indianahick?? Has the heard regrown since that head CO down there allowed any counties bonus antlerless tags? I was down the morning he did that and they were lined up all the way out on the road, went back the next week and the heard was almost nill. Talked to a few other CO friends and they were pretty embarrassed he allowed the heard to get thinned out that badly. That used to be a great hunting area, me and a friend used to go there every weekend.

Hoosieroutdoorsman are you talking about the Fairbanks area? If so there is a lot about that CO that is not pure or at least the stories are not.

Oh yeah and I am looking for a place to hunt too. Needs to be large enough for 3. Maybe 15 to 20 acres should do it.

Nope was talking about Ron Ronk or Shonk can`t remeber his last name but he was the CO down at Minnihaha. Back in 92-93 he got the DNR to let him allow any counties doe permit there at the area and they nearly whipped out the heard. I hunted minnihaha all the time but after that I never went back, plus me and the CO had some words and I walked out and didn`t look back. That was a great area they had deer signs in all the areas, I went back with my buddy last year and saw very little sign where I used to always see ALOT of great tracks, scrapes and rubs. I didn`t go onto the other areas and check them out, I figured if my old hot spot was dried up like that I was done.

Hmm I thought that Otha Presnell was Sullivan County CO back then. Did they have two or is the Minnihaha under assigned co's.
Fairbanks has a decent supply of deer if you are in the right place. They let the farmers back in year for last so the deer should adding some weight again. Befor the state took it over and named it Fairbanks there wasn't many crops down there except on private ground.

Ron Ronk or Shonk whatever his name has been there at Minihaha for as long as I can remember, have thought about checking out Fairbanks but have never been. That incident is one example of why I don`t agree with Indiana Antlerless permit, it should be switched to a Doe only permit. Alot of spikes and buttons were taken during that episode and I have always been a firm believer against taking the babies (MHO) I think Indiana would see a quicker turn around in the buck population and quality if they would switch the permit over. With the 1 buck rule already doing its job I think the Doe only permit would would quickly turn the whole herd around like we want it in the 5 year projection of the plan. Minihaha is a prime example of what the worst can happen.
