Gentleman, I wanted to introduce myself as I just found this forum(thanks Woody). I usually hang out with the fine folks over at leverguns.sixgunner.com/ forum or the castboolits.gunloads.com/ forum and have friends there from all over the country and across the pond. I came here looking for LOCAL HOOSIER like minded individuals( and hopefully a few levergun nuts like myself) and to learn a few things about hunting. I love leveraction rifles and have with a bad case of levergunitus(its nasty stuff and quite contagious and addictive!). I've been into firearms my whole adult life but wasn't raised around them or hunting. Which leads me here. Im 36 years old and have yet to go deer hunting. When I do I would like to drop the hammer with one of my Rossi 92's with my cast bullet handloads. Hopefully Indiana will get on board with this and look at the ballistics of it all so we can use pistol length cartridges in our leverguns to harvest deer.... A little about me, I live in the southern part of Jennings Co. The big metropolis of Paris Crossing. I got family in Scott (yep, migrated from Hazard), Jackson, Jefferson Counties. My hobbies are hanloading my own cartridges(357Mag, 44Mag, 30/30), casting my own bullets, LEVERACTIONS!!! and gunstock carving. If i'm not shooting leverguns I'm taking picts of them, bullet casting, and hanloading and other digital firearm related work. I prefer the Winchester designs and clones but like Marlins too. I currently have three leverguns. Two Rossi 92's chambered in 44Mag, 357Mag and a Winnie 94 (of course) chambered in 30/30. I like the Rossi 92's for a good reason. They are THE strongest and one of the slickest leveractions out there for pistol length cartridges(John Moses Browning was a genius!). I have a Reloading And Levergunning blog I also do in my spare time with tons of picts, small write ups, etc....(link is below my signature if anyone is interested) And well, just because I cant help myself here is my two Rossi 92's. This is Maggie, chambered in 357Mag. And this is my other Rossi 92, chambered in 44Mag along with a Lee custom six banger and a pile of custom Ranch Dog TLC432-285-RF that should be real flat faced thumpers! Anyway, looking for local like minded folks to share info with, and here to learn and hopefully make some fine friends in the process....Steve.

Hi Steve..and welcome.
Glad that you could make it here.
Not sure how many lever gun guys we have here , but I do know that the Pistol Cartrideg Rifle proposal by the IDNR has sparked an interest for sure.
We ran a poll on it somewhere on here and it was overwhelming in favor of the pistol cartridger rifles being legalized for deer hunting.
Looking forwrad to your posts.

Welcome to the board! I'm sure you'll learn a lot about deer hunting on here, it may not be right, but you'll be learning just the same! ;D

Hey Steve, I live in Columbus. I have a Winchester lever action 22 that my dad got me a few years back. Plan on taking it squirrel hunting one of these days. My main interest is hunting with my recurve at whatever game is in season at the time. Welcome to the site. Brad

That is a fine .22 rifle you have there. I wished I had one. I have a friend up in Conn on the leverguns forum wanting to give me a recurve for the price of shipping but I never have messed with them and I probably couldnt hit the broad side of a barn with one . ;D Thanks for the warm welcome fellas!

Also I noticed my link wasnt working and it was because of the code I entered.I have it fixed now but had to enter the address and not just the name. Is there a FAQ for this forum that will tell you what code this forum excepts and doesnt? I clicked help but it took me to proboards. Thanks in advance.....Steve.

Steve, I'm not the smartest guy in the world when it comes to computers. In fact thsi site was my first attept at doing this. So can you explain to me exactly what you want to do? I might have to go to Pro-Boards support myself to help you out, but we will get it done..

I'm really terrible at trying to explain myself but I'll give it a try. I know each board is a little different on what it excepts and what it doesnt but for example. On some boards where you would put your signature you can also enter in code as well. Like this... Reload'n and Levergun'n [ /url]....With this you would just see the clickable link Reload'n And Levergun'n instead of http:// reloadingandlevergunning.blogspot.com. Or for example if you was explaining to someone in a post on the forum that you just found this great new site and you put a clickable link( WOODYS SITE) instead of a clickable link for www. huntingindiana.proboard. even though it takes you to the same place. I hope I havent confused you with how I'm trying to explain this. I confuse myself all the time. These different kind of codes or hyperlinks I should say can also be used in the threads itself just like the ones this forum already supports, like when you make a post and you want to display a picture with the tag or tag.

Steve,
I have seen that in some sites, threads and post and I always wondered how they did that, so I am no help at all on this one.
I will try and find out as I would like to know that myself.
In the meantime just use the url in your signature.

Woody come to think of it, just like what you have done in your signature that says HUNTING INDIANA. Same concept. Its probably just done differently on this forum and I'm unfamiliar with how to do it.

Its probably just done differently on this forum and I'm unfamiliar with how to do it. Well duh on me.. Let me see if I can post the code without having just HuntingIndiina pop up. The asterisk didn't work Ill try again.. Type a [ then type url=http://your url then type a ] then type Reload'n and Levergun'n then type a [ then type /url then a ]

The ProBoard support guru said that the code you typed is correct if you leave out the spaces and the " signs. Reload'n and Levergun'n [ /url]
Then you will get this...
Reload'n and Levergun'n
BTW - You have a VERY nice site..
