The bucks in my area seem to prefer, almost exclusively, to make scrapes under beech trees, anyone else notice a preference? I would guess that it is partially due to the low hanging branches common on young beech trees which make good licking branches. However, I often find other species of trees in the same area that offer suitable branches as well that are never used.

mbogo I agree with your observation on the beech trees in the woods. I also see alot of scrapes in fields & on edges under pines & sumacs in my area.

Not many beech around here so most of the scrapes are not either. Find them under any tree with branches hanging about head high give or take a few.
