What is a guy to do, if a deer he shot goes onto the next property and dies. AND the farmer of that land will not let you come on over and retrieve the carcass? Can a Conservation Officer intercede and prevent the waste of the animal?

Greenhunter,
We get asked this question a lot. You are required by law to make a reasonable effort to retrieve your game and include it in your daily bag limit. However, you are right that you may not trespass to retrieve it. As a Conservation Officer I have spoken with landowners and they have allowed me to go on to their property to help retrieve an animal. If the landower does says "no" then that is the end of the trail. Try to always make good clean shots to prevent this snario from occuring. ICO Winchell
