2 questions for the C.O. 1. I am under the understanding that the 45 lc is a legal handgun calibre for hunting deer. I frequently shoot the 45lc in Cowboy shoots and find my best loads accuracy wise are 230 gr. bullets sittin on top of hodgdon 777 blackpowder substitute. It is also a very hot load at about 1000 fps. Is it legal to hunt during firearms season with a .45lc if the cartridge is powered with black powder?
2. I heard once that it was being considered to legalize hunting with carbines in a legal pistol calibre such as .44 mag. etc. Any input on this possibility in the future?

The 45 longcolt is still a legal handgun caliber this hunting season. Black powder is a legal propellant behind your bullet.
It is being considered that SOME carbines be legalized to hunt deer with, but it will not apply to this hunting season. I would say it is a strong possiblity that it will be legal in the future.
