As of right now, it is illegal, good, bad or indifferent. I like it that way personally. I see way too many violations as it is with guys, no need to give the not-so ethical hunter an opportunity to take a crack at that 200" monster with a handgun while bowhunting. I see most violators are opportunists...they don't typically go out with the intention of poaching/violating/etc. but would cross the line if given a chance. The last thing we want is some hunter in hog country walking to his stand in the dark and pulling his piece around shooting at what he thinks is a mess of hogs and end up shooting some weekend warrior crashing through the woods in the pre-dawn darkness. I could go on and on with what ifs and why nots, but the bottom line is that it is not allowed in IN.
