The Bloomington Herald ran a story of a Panther killing several pigs in Owen county on Jan. 31. The homeowner saw the big cat from a distance of twenty FEET. The report also included a statement by the homeowner that he will shoot the cougar if given a chance. Of course my question is-"Is it legal for him to kill a cougar upon seeing it, without the animal attacking him"?

Hoosier,
Indiana law does not protect animals that are not native and not regulated. So the answer is yes you could legally shoot a cougar in Indiana. Please let me know if you bag one, I want a picture.
