I also posted this question on another site...haven't received an answer...hope a C.O. can answer it here:
Has Indiana ever given any consideration to closing upland hunting (as they do in Michigan) during our two week deer gun season, and then bringing it back for two weeks later in the season?
Last year that would have meant closing the season from Nov. 12-Nov. 27.....then extending the season to Jan. 1 ...instead of Dec. 18.
This would eliminate some of the conflicts between deer hunters and bird hunters, especially those competing over the same land. (and yes, conflicts do exist.)

ccavacini,
I have never heard of this propsal however, that does not mean that it has not been proposed before. They have discussed closing running seasons for dogs during the nesting season past. I suggest you start by contacting your district DNR biologist. You could also contact the biologist at Minniehaha, Rodger Stonebraker at (812) 268-0300. I would also contact your local Quail Unlimited or Pheasants 4-ever chapter and try to get their support. Public meetings that are held by the district biologists are also a forum. These type of changes need support to be considered.
Good Luck ICO Winchell
