Anyone ever use Action Adventure Outfitters in Colorado? Planning on going there in 2007 for a private land drop camp.

Contacted Action Adventures in september 0f 2005, requesting a brochure. H emailed me and told me he wouldn't send them out until end of October. I FINALLY got it yesterday. I'm beginning to think this guy doesn't want my money.

That slow response would be enough right there to turn me off. There are lots of options for drop camps. Be careful and check references, or you may just wind up on an "expensive camping trip".
I've had best luck staying away from the big internet advertising outfitters and going with the mom & pop type outfits for basic western hunting trips. Don't know about Colorado, but most states have an outfitters and guides association from which you can get a list of licensed outfitters. Get the list and do some phone work. The ones that book the same groups year after year are the ones you want to hook up with.

There's lots of "Mom & Pop" outfitters in SW Colorado. You need to check the Counties of Delta & Montrose for listings.

Drop camps can be frustrating. THere have been some articles this year, I think in Outdoor Life, showing how to go about drop camps right.

I can put you on a fairly good elk,bear/deer combo hunt in SW Colorado, that you can hunt on your own, mostly private ground, and can use ATVs to access the high ground. You would be staying in a nice furnished cabin, and could have meals cooked for you if interested. Price is $1500 per person/per season.

timex, where is this place at? I hunted Montrose a few years back and would love to go hunt again. The price sounds good.

GMU 741, 20 miles SW of Durango. Nice flat top mesas at about 8,000 to 9,000 ft. Take an AVT up top and hunt.
The elk tag is 100% draw on the second choice, so you get your tag and a p-point. Bear is available over the counter with a cap. Most of the bears we saw were colored up some with red or blond.
