I have a Marlin 39A and wanted to add a scope, It has already been taped and drilled for bases. What i need too know is what type of bases, rings and scope to mount on it? Kinda wanted to keep it around 50 dollars if possible maybe alittle more with the bases and rings.

I'd set my sights a little higher; I wouldn't put glass on it until I could afford a decent scope; you'll likely go through a good bit of that $50.00 for the base and rings.

Weaver aluminum bases and rings are usually cheap, under 20.00 for both. Walmart sells blister pack scopes cheap too. Just remember you get what you pay for and a cheap scope is a cheap scope. The good thing is .22 rim fires don't recoil much so they have a tendency not to destroy scopes like bigger caliber guns do. Cheap scopes are hard to zero in most cases and wont hold their zero. You bump them and the cross hairs will move. Ebay is also a good place to find better scopes at cheaper prices. Good luck, h.h.

The 39 is a good rifle and worthy of nice glass. I always thought the 70's to 80's era decent rimfires to looke pretty cool with the Redfield 3/4" tube 4 X scopes. Small scope might look perfect on a 39TDS
