In the past I would bone-out my deer and take the meat to Zick's in Berrien Springs, MI, to get jerky, sausage, and snack sticks made. they were a bit on the pricey side but i got everything back in nicely labeled shrink-wrapped packages ready to go in the freezer. In the South Bend paper this past Sunday there was a notice that they weren't going to take deer anymore. Anyone know of a "full-service" processor in Northern IN that can provide similar service? I'm not really interested in doing it myself.

near New Carlisle (about 1/2 hr from south bend ) is a place that does the summer sausage and snack sticks ill try and find the number for ya but the name of the place is Saugany Lake Smoke House i haven't taken any thing to them personally but the processor i use takes my meat there i have to pick up my deer later today ill try nad get there number then

Thanks! I did find out the next week that the paper was wrong and Zick's just wasn't taking whole deer for processing like they must have in the past. Now only way they take it is the way I was already doing it. But I think it would be closer for me to go to New Carlisle, so I'd appreciate that number if you get it, if not I imagine I can dig it up. Thanks again.

Dale Elkins in Hudson Lake/New Carlisle is pretty good. he might use the same guy but I think he makes his own stuff now too. Ask Pigeon Flier for his number. He takes whole deer and is a good taxidermist too.

Just got 20 lbs of venison baloney made there along with 10 lbs of Zick Sticks.....just bring in your boned meat and they do the rest......been taking it there for years and I see that they are putting on a big addition too.

Just saw this thread,,,, but I did have some sample's from Elkins.. MMMmmmm,, it was some good stuff... Had a pack of Bambi Bologna, jalepeno and cheese snacks sticks / summer sausage.. and regular sticks.. It was excellent.. He is on the West end of Hudson Lake.. Follow the deer checkin signs.. Very easy to find..
