Have any of you guys ever used one? I bought one with 1000 one pound bags and two rolls of tape for $68 and wondered if there are worth the money. Thoughts, comments. h.h.

Yes, I have used them for two years, about 20-25 deer so far. I use the bags in conjunction with my vertical sausage stuffer to fill the bags. Sure beats stuffing meat by hand into a ziploc. I do think the red tape sticks a little better than the white, IMO.

Like they say....it is surely cheaper to by beef! But then again, cheap meat sure isn't the reason we hunt now, is it? You forgot to list the vaccum packer!

camoham,
i bought mine from online from butcher-packer in Michigan but saw some at gander mountain the other day for 29.95. theirs came with the taper, roll of tape and fifty bags. i paid 19.95 for the taper, 2.30 a roll for tape (each roll does 3000 bags) and 1000 bags for 28.95. i also bought a #22 bag horn for my grinder from allied kenco. now i can grind my venison right into the bags and then seal them for around 0.06 cents a pound. i believe thats a lot cheaper than freezer paper.
i have a #22 grinder, a big cast iron meat saw, butcher shop grade cuber, dakota water stuffer for sausage and a smoker. i can cut and grind just about any cut of meat i want. the only piece of equipment i don't have and want is a slicer.
out of all my equipment i use the meat band saw the least but you sure can cut some nice sized steaks with it. h.h.
