Well the season is over and I didn't get a deer, but that is aside from the point. I was wondering if you guys had any recomdations as to where I could get a deer processed in NW IN for next season. I live in demotte, and would drive up to an hour or so to go to a reputable butcher. Does anyone have any insight on who is good in this area. Any good or bad experiences, and what should I look for. I have thought about doing it myself, but I would rather leave the first couple deer I take up to a pro, and I dont know how to make jerky and sausage that well yet. Thanks in advance. Chris.

I don't know any butchers in the area, but I would like to encourage you to try it yourself. It's fun and easy. Don't worry about "messing it up", you can't really, it's your deer so you can always say "i meant to do that"! Welcome aboard! Also, you can always take boned out meat to the butcher to have your sausage and jerky made. It will save you little money too.

I am sure there are a few closer to you but I know the butcher in Hudson Lake(between Michigan City and South Bend) will do a good job for you, He is a taxidermist as well, just in case you get one for the wall! Have him make some into brats or itialian sausage. It's good.
