just thought i drop this in and possibly help a fellow hoosier.
i bought the #10 grinder this year so i could start butchering my own deer. (under $20)
much to my satisfaction............this device worked really well. it came with 2 sizes of grinding plates and two funnel-like attachments for stuffing sausage and snack stix.
****word of caution...........the grinding plates are uncoated iron/steel. a light coating of vegetable oil will prevent them from rusting. (rust formed pretty quickly just after the initial washing).
if your local wal-mart doesnt have them then i would suggest "scoping" out "antique shops".................i have spied them there and was actually "plan A" before the season started.

Bought the exact same one a few weeks ago! Have yet to try it out...glad to hear it performs well!

These small hand crank grinders will do fine for processing your own deer at home. Most hunters want variety from their deer and not all of it grind up into burger/sausage. Most cut steaks, roasts, and/or stew meat leaving not much to be ground off a average deer. Also the #8 200 watt electric meat grinders you can purchase for around $100.00 is more than enough meat grinder for the home processor even if the whole deer is going to be ground. These samll compact electric meat grinders can be purchased at Bass Pro, Cabela's, and LEM. In fact right now LEM has some refurbished units selling at $59.00 dollars right now. When I recieved my order this week they sent out a sell flyer listing these on in. They also have some good pricing on the hand crank grinders as well ranging from the small #10 grinder to the big #32 grinder.
