How many of you would purchase an ATV / UTV for hunting purposes if our forest properties were legally accessable like they were up until the mid 70's.

Seems like if they did allow them allot of people would stop hunting those areas because of the traffic. I hear stories about people hunting out west thinking they're miles from anything then a ATV drives by.....

The HNF being closed to motorized traffic doesn't stop anyone where I hunt so I doubt that would make much of a difference.

I see people ride all over Pike State Forest and Sugar Ridge every bow and gun season. Even signs on the gates to the firetrails say "no motorized vehicles beyond this point", and there are empty 4 wheeler trailers sitting there. People don't care, and the law won't/can't stop them.

ATVs, jet skis for dry land. Start engine turn off brain. If you happen to live near public land you will be harrassed by them. A few weeks ago 4 of them came right down my driveway just like they owned it, 10 feet behind my truck. A while later they found some more friends and 8 of them came back through. A call to the Sherriff brought a Deputy to the area and he could hear them riding so he parked where he thought they might come out. When they did he hit his lights and they all took off but one and he squealled on the others. Was told they would be charged with riding on county road and fleeing a police officer. Haven't heard yet but I am sick of them.

I have use of my son's ATV , but I wouldn't use it for hunting unless I reached a point of physically needing to or stop hunting . If that day arrives I would try to be as courteous in my use of it as possible , low impact , stealth exhaust to reduce the noise , etc . I have mixed feelings about ATV use on public land in general since the ones doing it now don't seem to respect the laws .

Most of the riding around here is at night. I would not care if someone used one to retrieve a deer, just be respectful.

There is a trash can for those people that we all now get to pay for. Its called Redbird State Recreation Area/ORV park. I own an ATV that I keep on my own property, and wouldn't dream of riding anywhere else without permission, and even then I wouldn't ride it on other people's land during any hunting season.

You know it is really sad that a few incompetent non-caring people make life hard and not as fun for the rest of us. I love 4-wheeling with jeeps as well as ATV’s and Jet ski’s. I only ride in designated areas and I obey all laws!!! But because some people do not it gives all ATV riders or Jet Ski riders a bad name. You know I have had people tell me get off your jet ski and buy a real boat! I just laugh because sitting in a cove or back at the dock is my 100K-30ft cabin cruiser. Anyway the point is it really has nothing to do with the vehicle of choice its ass holes that make it so hard on all of us! I mean there are plenty of bad drivers on the road right? Do I hear anyone saying we should get ride of cars? NOPE!!! So please I respect all points of view just make sure your anger is pointed to the causes of trouble not the tools used. GOD BLESS THE SPIRIT OF THE WILD!!!
