Going to Salamonie on the 1st and I guess they have a 50 shot limt. Do other properties have this? Guess I am really going to have to pick my shots carefully.

Mississinewa is saying 3 box limit/ 75 shells. This is the first year I have seen them do that. Goodyz71

That sounds a lot more reasonable and closer to the avg it should take to bring home a limit.

Roush lake has been 50 shot limit the last 3-4 years. I didnt like the rule at first but it does cut down on a lot of sky busting and with only 50 shots the ones doing it are usually out of shells and leave, which is good. Just take your time and pick your shots. h.h.

While I've yet to run into the 50 shot limit on the state properties I hunt in southern part of state, I would not be suprised that we see it as standard on all state properties within 2-3 years. As noted above, it will cut down on some of the sky painting and promote picking our shots.

Wait until they start requiring non-tox shot.

It will be soon for the FWA's... Kankakee does it already and I think some others also. Non-tox that is...
I live 10 miles south of the Michigan line.. All the FWA's in Michigan require non-toxic,, I believe even for rabbits. Only lead allowed is slugs...
And for shell limits,, one of the waterfowl parks up here has a 15 shell limit for waterfowl

I was told by property manager at Glendale on Saturday that non-tox for doves on all FWA areas next year, ICO said the same thing on SUnday down at BlueGrass. The shell limit does not bother me, but I'll have to start pricing non-tox shot and working up some new loads for the 28 & 20 for next year.

Hello: I am new here but wanted to chime in on this tread. Looks like this is a good site to join. I talked to a ICO last Thursday at Bluegrass and said that "We can use lead shot...... THIS YEAR!". I got the impression that maybe next year we will have to start using non lead type shot. I read that the price of ammunition was going up this year too. So I dread the price of non toxic shot for next year Might want to buy some now before the price shoots way up next year. I was able to use up some shotgun shells that I reloaded with #8 lead shot years ago. I was surprised how well they worked after sitting in the house on the shelf for the last 25 years. LOL. Those shells were a lot cheaper to reload back in the 1960's. Just keep the power dry. I was told by property manager at Glendale on Saturday that non-tox for doves on all FWA areas next year, ICO said the same thing on SUnday down at BlueGrass. Kanakee is non-toxic everywere there. Tri-County is non-toxic on some of it's feilds, and a 35 shell limit the first 5 weeks. They draw on Sat.&Wed. only for that period. Goose hunting was 8 or 15 shell only there and I believe at Pigon River. Should have a shell limit on every FWA for ducks as well. Sky Busters brought this on!! With less shots you may better choices and not at birds 500 yards out or up , scareing off all the birds on the place. Most non-toxic shot rules are at places were they flood for water fowl or are wetlands in the first place. ( Darn ducks like to eat those lead pellets and die later of lead poison, may even be about the time they are sitting on a brood of eggs) Ever wonder how many ducks have been saved from dieing months later with just a pellet or two in them with steel pellets and not lead?
