I took this doe last weekend, so I was good on meat for the next year (or so I thought): However, my buddy still needed a deer, so I decided to hunt with him this holiday weekend, so I could help him drag his out (if he got one). This nice 8 came in early this morning, and I could not pass him up because he looked good in the crosshairs: 1/2 if not more of this deer is going to my buddy because he's still deer-less... Time for some waterfowl...

Thanks, 30pointbuck. I hit the buck about the same as the doe, just slightly higher, only difference was the buck was 50 yards, and the doe was 130 yards, both went about 25 yards before expiring, and both without any kind of shooting rest. Last year using a tree as a rest, I hit a 130 pound doe at 102 yards, and she basically went down in her tracks. The tree allowed a quicker kill through better shot placement than the 2 from this year. I shoot the .50 cal. 245gr. CVA Powerbelt H/P behind 100grs. of Pyrodex pellets out of a CVA Staghorn 209 with a cheap Pine Ridge (Cabela's Brand) 2.5 - 7x scope. The last 3 shots fired at deer resulted in solid kills, so I'd recommend this lethal, recoil-free setup to anyone! Here last year's doe:
