How old is she? And do you keep her inside or out?
I`ve considered getting into the bird dog business for a while, but keep going both ways. My biggest concern is with the hours I work, and the driving back and forth, I`m not home much. Some guys say it`s not fair to the dog, others just say, oh well, spend time her and hunt her as you can. What`s your take on that?

Beautiful looking dog...I've got a 7 year old female Brittany and a Brittany pup on the way (June 24).
I hunt mine and take her running as much as possible. I can tell when she's not been running enough as she gets a little wound up, although she's a great house dog.
Lots of different opinions on bird dogs. I would say if you're not going to hunt, don't get a bird dog...there are plenty of other types out there. I don't know if a Brittany needs any more attention than most other dogs...Mine loves to hunt. And, I don't even bother walking her (although she'll heel on a lead). She likes to get out and run like a deer.
I don't think you'll find a sweeting dog than a Brittany

hunter480,
shes 4 years old and shes outside in a kennel. Brits are people oriented dogs. she loves to be around people. shes a great hunter. i trained her and worked real hard on retrieving, she'll even do water retrieves. i take her to the game preserves a couple times a year and shoot 10 chukars or so over her.
i bought her to take up north for grouse and woodcock but haven't been to the UP since i got her. i use to go every year for a month.
i also raise beagles and need the room in my kennel. thats the reason i want to sell her. if anyone is looking for a well bred Brit i don't think you can find a better bred dog than Brandi. Please pm me if anyone is interested. h.h.
