I`m not 100% certain I`m going to get into the bird dog business, but I have been mulling it over.
IF I were to do it, I’d want a Brittany Spaniel, and I`ve talked to Shawn Brown at Royal Flush-he doesn`t know of any litters right now.
Anyone know of any pups available?

Ever hunt behind a setter?

Nope, not a setter. I`ve hunted over Brittany's and short hairs, and I really like the Brittany's. They seem to be good tempered, loyal, and HARD hunters.

We had a brittany that you had to strap one back leg into her collar just to be able to keep up with her. A total spaz of a dog, but a good hunter. I have since become leary of dealing with brits. Maybe it was just that brit.
I do like hunting over setters.

Well, we had a ball yesterday. Due to health issues I hadn't been out since November so me and the dog (Buff the Brittany) were both out of shape. We went to Royal Flush over by Rockville, IN on their last day of this season. Surprisingly they had excellent cover this late in the year and man were they busy!!!! Parking lot was packed when we got there at noon.
We put out 10 chukars and 4 pheasants. One of our hunters (varmint101) had decided he was going to use his bow and I was carrying my new 28 gauge O/U. The other 2 old guys were carrying 20 gauge O/U's. We had my Britt and my buddy's Llewellin setter for dogs.
In about 2 hours we had 9 of the chukars and 3 pheasants. Bow Boy hadn't killed anything but he scared 2 chukars real bad. He came within inches of getting one just over the top and actully brushed another chukar on the breast with the flecthing with another. So he got his gun and went out and killed 2 pheasants and a chukar just to prove he could. For those keeping count we brought out more than we paid for but that sometimes happens.
On the way home we saw a couple of groups of turkeys just to make the day complete.
Jack
P.S. The Britt did just fine but then I'm prejudiced.
