I bow hunted all through gun(last season) and was out on the last day of archery...so I never "missed" it. I did go out with my M/L a few times and bagged a nice doe with it. It is an old Traditions Hawken with open sights. I say if you miss bow, put the shot gun away and pick the bow back up. Solohunter

fortunately for me i had a good early bow season.i miss the bow woods.you know where the deer are in a more natural state, not running around on alert all the time.i like gun hunting just dont like the paranoid deer.as for late archery goes i like being out in december when its cold.

Early bow is my favorite time. I use it to harvest doe.Gun season is fun to wait on the bucks. Then the late season I get to use my fovorite weapon, the crossbow. last year I took a dandy with it on the second to last day of the season.

I hunt with my Bow all through the Deer season, but Early archery is my favorite. Its just not the same once the guns start going off.Any one who is a Bow hunter is sure to know what I mean.

For some reason in my woods I saw more deer during the early part of archery season. Mid to late October and even now, I don't see any deer. I think some standing corn on an adjacent property may be the culprit

No reason to miss the bow. I just got in from a morning hunt where I had a buck chase a doe past me before it was light enough to see good. Still fun listening to him BRRRRP BRRRP his way through to woods. Sat in the tree last evening and didn't see a thing but got in and the wife said a BIG buck was in the yard about 45 minutes before I came in. Wish we could have had more days like these during early season, sure got sick of rain and wind. Love these frosty mornings.

I know we can still bow hunt through the end of the year, but I do miss early archery (before fire arms). I just miss the quiet woods with no guns blazing and deer not running scared for their lives. Nothing ruins a hunting experience to me more then listening to some hill jack empty their slug gun at some deer on a dead run. Don't get me wrong, I pick up the muzzleloader and have slug gun hunted, but come on there is no need to blaze away at a running deer.
That is what I miss. A quiet woods and deer just being deer.

I agree ,of all the shooting I heard in the distance opening day of gun season most were 3 or 4 shots in rapid succession. I could just picture a Deer running across a field with slugs whizzing buy his head.

I love the late archery season. I love to hunt when its bitter cold. I feel this is the time of year, i can pattern the deer better.

Most of the gun season around here isnt hunting .... it is shooting. No scouting, no stand placement and no preparation.
Pick a spot, sit down and hope that one idiot runs a deer by a second idiot. 10 yards or 210 yards, it doesnt matter. Spray and pray.

swilk I totaly agree, I'm in southern Indiana too and I hate the first day of gun season, seems like most guys had to stop at wall mart to buy a scope and slap it on the gun on the way to their hunting spot! I realize it's not all of them but it seems like most.

and unfortunately its these types of hunters that kill the ones we've been after for years.
Now i understand why Gun Manufactorers pre-sight the gun in before they ship it out!

After thinking about this a while I have to admit I am selfish. If I were king of the deer world we would only hunt them with archery equipment. ;D

Archery Season this year was Great, although the rain, and wind did make it tough.Heck some days i would wake up and say tommorrow will be nicer and the we would have 30 mph winds,so you either hunted in Rain or high winds, but better than being at work??My vacation is over sunday, and i have got to get that garage done what to do.
