Anyone ever use pelitized lime. The place I'm putting a plot is hardly acesible by a tractor, so I'm not going to try to get 2 tons on ag lime up there. If you have, did it work out allright.

palletized lime works great but only last 2 - 3 months because its so fine, where Ag lime has different size pieces. the fine particles will be used up first and it takes the bigger pieces longer to break down so it will last 3-5 years longer.
palletized lime does a good job but just doesn't last as long. h.h.

Pellitized lime is obviously much easier to transport and more expensive to boot due to the bags. In the past that is all that we have used and haven't had any problems with them.

How much did you have to put down per acre dwhunting? I read that if the soil test called for 1 ton per acre of ag lime then to put down 200lbs of peletized, 2 tons per acre of ag, then 400lbs of peletized. does that sound about right? Thanks for your help.

Indybrad, I was told to put 500lbs of Pelletized lime on per acre. However this was all based on our soil test so yours might be different. The pellitized lime is costly as I stated so we are having our local quarry come in and drop off about 10 tons and then we are going to truck from there. You might want to look into that. It will save you a lot of money.
