With New Jersey's black bear hunt underway, four animal rights activists have been arrested and charged with hunter harassment. By New Jersey law, it is illegal to obstruct or make physical contact with a person legally hunting, to get in between a hunter and his prey or to attempt to influence the behavior of the prey to interfere with hunting. Violators face fines of $100 - $500. Half-way through the second black bear hunt in 35 years, New Jersey officials report more than two hundred bears have been taken by hunters.
