Text for the Day -- Psalm 81:1, 6-10 ---------- Sing aloud to God our strength; shout for joy to the God of Jacob. ‘I relieved your shoulder of the burden; your hands were freed from the basket. In distress you called, and I rescued you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah.Selah Hear, O my people, while I admonish you; O Israel, if you would but listen to me! There shall be no strange god among you; you shall not bow down to a foreign god. I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.’
Devotional ---------- God's children have always had the inclination to forget what God has done for them. Perhaps it is a matter of selective memory or a matter of their ego trying to take credit for what good things have happened. Whether it is long ago, as in the case of the psalmist, or today, we, as the children of God do forget. How do you try to remember God's goodness and mercy in your life?
Prayer ---------------- Through your Holy Spirit, Lord, help me remember the source of my life and blessings. Amen
