Text for the Day -- Psalm 72:1-4 ---------- Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to a king’s son. May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice. May the mountains yield prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness. May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the needy, and crush the oppressor.
Devotional ---------- The psalms are more than poetry. They can be prophetic, as they seem to be in this psalm. God is not without his testimony. In creation and the prophetic word God testifies to his purpose and plan for redemption and healing. It will be a redemption worked out in the midst of history and it will keep working until the last day. Faith holds to this testimony and builds its hope on it.
Prayer ----------- Give me passion in believing, Lord, so that I can be a witness to your hope-filled promise. Amen
