Text for the Day -- John 21:24-25 ---------- This is the disciple who is testifying to these things and has written them, and we know that his testimony is true. But there are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.
Devotional ---------- John's Gospel closes with the words above. It is a beautiful statement of the purpose of a written Gospel. Gospels are not just factual accounts of Jesus' life or a scattered remembrance of the story of an interesting man. Gospels are testimonies. Gospels seek to engender faith in Jesus as the Son of God. On this last day of the church's liturgical year, we are reminded that we have been journeying with the story of God's redeeming the whole world through his Son, Jesus.
Prayer -------------------- Help me to continue the journey of faith that my life may be a testimony, O Lord. Amen
