Text for the Day -- Luke 18:15-17 ---------- People were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them; and when the disciples saw it, they sternly ordered them not to do it. But Jesus called for them and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.’
Devotional ---------- The kingdom of God is not about power and striving on our part. It is about humility and simplicity. It is about letting go and letting God. The power of the kingdom is the power of God's love, manifested in Jesus' death and resurrection. Humility is the road that leads us to the gift of love that empowers the kingdom. Think back to your experiences as a child and the trust you had in others to care for you and sustain your life. God still looks for that simple trust and blesses it with his presence and love.
Prayer ----------------- Renew that childlike trust in my heart, O God. Amen
