I second this!!! We all need to meet this hero and commend him on his bravery. He was definitely more brave than I would have been in his situation!!! Hopefully things are still continuing to improve. I used to do work for St. Vincent Indianapolis, although I worked with adults, so I'm quite familiar with some of the facilities there. I know he is in good hands, especially those of the Lord. Give him a huge bear hug and a pat on the back for me!!!

BSUtravis, our thoughts and prayers are with your son, he sounds like a tuff young man!
Also, I know St. V's is a great hospital and I would never imply otherwise but if you ever need another opinion please contact The Shriners Children Hospital in Lexington KY, they did some work on my 10 y/o son and we love em, they are awesome!!!! They are experts in cases such as these.

Another update......
Over the past 2 weeks Kyle has shed his crutches except for very long walks. He had relied on them to get through the school day, but with some encouragement from Mom and I, he's been leaving them behind. He walks like Chester from Gunsmoke, and his strides aren't more than a foot at a time...but it's prayers answered for him to be without the aid of a wheelchair and/or crutches. From a standing position his poor legs can't spread more than 11" apart, but we'll work on that in the months to come...... right now I just look forward to him having a summer with just a small percentage of what a normal 9 year old boy should have while on Summer Break. He gets teary eyed whenever his friends leave for baseball practice, and I know its ripping his heart out to not be able to run and play ball like he did so well before... but I have hopes that next Spring he's able to get back onto a diamond and play again.
Anyway, I can almost feel the thoughts that you guys have for my boy....and it was on my heart to give an update. If he feels up to it I'll have him @ the homecoming in June.

That is great news!!
Recovery like this is literally "one step at a time".
He has my admiration for being such a tough young man. He also has my prayers for a speedy and complete recovery.
We would all love to me such a trooper, so I dearly hope that he can make to the homecoming.
