Text for the Day -- Romans 2:1-4 ---------- Therefore you have no excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others; for in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things. You say, "We know that God's judgment on those who do such things is in accordance with truth." Do you imagine, whoever you are, that when you judge those who do such things and yet do them yourself, you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you despise the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience? Do you not realize that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?
Devotional ---------- One truth we tend to forget is that all fall short of God's law. Paul begins his letter to the Romans dispelling the notion that certain people are better than others and therefore able to judge others and condemn them on the basis of their own status. Paul says "no" to that. No one is exempt from the law. All of us need grace.
Prayer ------------------ Gracious God, remove a spirit of judgment from me and enable me to accept others in the grace of Christ. Amen
