Text for the Day -- I Corinthians 15:20-24 ---------- But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died. For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a human being; for as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, after he has destroyed every ruler and every authority and power.
Devotional ---------- The Corinthians had fallen into a trap in their thinking. Because they had such rich experiences in spiritual gifts they began to think that they were already raised to the final life in the kingdom. They were beginning to say that there was no resurrection of the body because they had already been raised. Paul seeks to straighten out their thinking in the light of Jesus' resurrection from the dead. From time to time this thinking re-emerges in some churches.
Prayer[/b ---------------- Lord, thank you for conquering death and promising to raise me at the last day to your glory. Amen
