Text for the Day -- II Kings 5:1-4, 8-14 ---------- Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Aram, was a great man and in high favor with his master, because by him the LORD had given victory to Aram. The man, though a mighty warrior, suffered from leprosy. Now the Arameans on one of their raids had taken a young girl captive from the land of Israel, and she served Naaman's wife. She said to her mistress, "If only my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy." So Naaman went in and told his lord just what the girl from the land of Israel had said.
Devotional ---------- God is God of the whole world and not just a few folks who claim God as their own. It is not surprising that God does work miracles for all people. Often it is to show others God's power and compassion. However, it is also the case that God reminds us all that God is God of all. God witnessed through the prophet who acts out of God's compassion and power. Too often we want to fence or box God in. We try to make God captive to our needs only and not the needs of others. But, God will not be made that small. God will be God and nothing we do can change that reality.
Prayer --------------- Broaden and deepen my vision of the greatness of your love, grace and power, O Lord. Amen
