Text for the Day -- Luke 8:19-21

Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not
reach him because of the crowd. And he was told, "Your mother and
your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you." But he said
to them, "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of
God and do it."
Devotional
----------
Jesus' true family are those who receive him as God's Word and
Presence and live that out in their lives. Jesus undoubtedly loved
and honored his human family, but he came to create a new phenomenon
- persons of every tribe and peoples brought into oneness in the
family of God. As we are bonded to this new family we are covenanted
with our God through the Holy Spirit as a brother and sister of
Christ Jesus.

Thank you, God, for the joy of believing that has brought me into
fellowship with you and all humans in love. Amen
