Text for the Day -- II Chronicles 7:1-4 ---------- When Solomon had ended his prayer, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the temple. The priests could not enter the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD filled the LORD's house. When all the people of Israel saw the fire come down and the glory of the LORD on the temple, they bowed down on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and worshiped and gave thanks to the LORD, saying, "For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever."
Then the king and all the people offered sacrifice before the LORD.
Devotional ---------- Solomon dedicates the temple in Jerusalem. He invites God to dwell in the midst of his people. And God does just that. This is a precursor to indwelling Christ in human flesh, Immanuel - God with us. God comes to dwell in the midst of his people. The book of Revelation declares that God will dwell in the midst of his people. God is not a stranger to our life, but knows it well.
Prayer ---------------- Help me be aware of your presence in my life today, O Lord. Amen
