Text for the Day -- Psalm 76:7-10

But you indeed are awesome!
Who can stand before you
when once your anger is roused?
From the heavens you uttered judgment;
the earth feared and was still
when God rose up to establish judgment,
to save all the oppressed of the earth.
Devotional

These verses extol God's judgments that serve to redeem all the
oppressed of the earth. God's righteous anger, an anger that serves
the needs of the oppressed and not God, works for justice for the
poor and needy. Just as God's love is not selfish and self-serving,
so God's anger is not just a projection of God's needs. As we seek to
express God's love for others in our own life, so we must also
express God's anger for the sake of justice for the oppressed.
Prayer
O Lord, help me get beyond myself so that I may serve others in need
of mercy and justice. Amen
