James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came forward to him and said to
him, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you." And
he said to them, "What is it you want me to do for you?" And they
said to him, "Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your
left, in your glory."
Devotional

The Christian Gospel is a story of the great reversal. We think that
we are a success if we can overpower or out perform and gain the
upper hand. We desire to make ourselves number one. But, Jesus says
we need to be more childlike, powerless and vulnerable, yet at the
same time called to the top through humility and trust. Offer
yourself as a servant to all and you will find the exaltation Christ
can give you.

Teach me to be a servant, Lord. Amen
