Text for the Day -- Zechariah 9:16-17

On that day the Lord their God will save them,
for they are the flock of his people;
for like the jewels of a crown
they shall shine on his land.
For what goodness and beauty are his!
Grain shall make the young men flourish,
and new wine the young women.
Devotional
----------
God restored the fortunes of Israel after their time of exile. The
images of this ingathering of the dispersed Jews are like a flock of
sheep or a collection of shining jewels. Even though God judged
Israel harshly, God did not forsake them or God's covenant with them.
Love is at the core of our God.
Prayer
----------------------
Help me to always live in hope based on your love for me, O Lord.
