Text for the Day -- Psalm 52:8-9

But I am like a green olive tree
in the house of God.
I trust in the steadfast love of God
for ever and ever.
I will thank you for ever,
because of what you have done.
In the presence of the faithful
I will proclaim your name, for it is good.
Devotional

The psalmist upbraids some who are wealthy and don't admit to needing
God or anyone else. They rely on their own wealth and strength and
put down the religious. Earlier in the psalm the writer says that God
will uproot them from the land of the living. They will be like a
tree bulldozed. The psalmist says, "I am like a green olive tree in
the house of God." This is a sign of a healthy, thankful, and
trustiing believer.
Prayer

I bend to the breezes of your grace and gifts, O God, like a green
olive. Amen
