Text for the Day -- Numbers 6:22-27

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying,
Thus you shall bless the Israelites: You shall say to them,
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.
So they shall put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.
Devotional

This ancient benediction, still used in many Christian churches,
carries the promise of God's presence for the people of God. The
phrase, "make his face shine upon you," is the image of God turning
his face toward Israel with concern and favor. When people leave
worship these words go with them, carrying the promise that God is
with them, for them and does not forget them.

Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance often, these words of blessing.
